You Might’ve Missed the Best Serving Performance Ever

We delve into Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard’s historic serving performance at the 2024 Swiss Indoors Basel. Standing at 6’8″, the Frenchman dominated the tournament with his powerful serve, culminating in a straight-sets victory over Ben Shelton in the final.

Mpetshi Perricard’s serve was nothing short of extraordinary, averaging 19 aces per match throughout the season, significantly higher than any other player on tour.

His second serve was particularly impressive, averaging speeds of 131 mph (211 km/h) in Basel, surpassing the first-serve speeds of many top players.
This aggressive serving strategy paid off, as he did not drop serve throughout the tournament, highlighting his dominance on serve.

Should he hit 2 first serves – is is statistically responsible to go for it? I will dive into the logic of all of it. Comment if you think he should always go for it!
